Ben really enjoyed preschool last year. His teacher, Ms. Bregand, was really great and he really enjoyed going. Although some days he had a hard time leaving mom to walk with his classmates to their classroom, once he was there he did fine.
A typical day of 3-year preschool involved:
- circle time, where they worked on name recognition and listening skills
- open classroom playtime, Ben's favorite
- go to the gym to ride tricycles or go outside to play
- go to the library
- snack, another of Ben's favorite times
Three times in the school year I was able to be "Class Mom". This was lots of fun for me to see Ben in action with his friends and to see how his class operated. We brought the snack for the class and Ben was "Child of the Day", which meant that he was first in line whenever we left the classroom, he got to bring in something for show & tell and he helped me set up snack. It was great to be there but made it a little hard for Ben when the next school day came along I didn't go to class with him. But he settled for me to walk him to the stairs.
Overall, it was a good year. He learned a lot and was excited for the next school year to start |
